The brief

One complete system, considered early.

Working alongside Three Sixty Architecture, Optum designed the home's plumbing, heating and energy systems as part of the architecture from the outset.

The total package covered plumbing, drainage, gasfitting and heating, with every component selected to be efficient, reliable, inexpensive to run and maintain, and low in environmental impact.

Designed as one system.

Generation, storage, heating and hot water work together instead of competing for energy.

01

Air-to-water heat pump

One efficient system supplies domestic hot water and the home's central heating.

02

3kW solar PV

On-site generation supports the heat pump as well as the wider household electrical load.

03

Rotex thermal store

A dual-element thermal store provides a dependable buffer for heating and hot water.

04

Zoned underfloor heating

Heatmiser controls allow even low-temperature warmth to be managed room by room.

The outcome

A complete system designed to be efficient, reliable and low impact.

Optum coordinated plumbing, drainage, gasfitting, heating and energy from design through installation, giving the home a single, coherent services strategy.
