Most homes get their heating, plumbing and ventilation from three different trades. We design all three as one system: central heating, underfloor heating, heat pumps, hot water and balanced ventilation, for homes across Wānaka and Queenstown.

Recent projects

A landmark project where environmental ambition became working infrastructure.

Camp Glenorchy was created as a world-class demonstration of sustainable visitor accommodation at the head of Lake Wakatipu.

Optum delivered renewable heating, hot water, plumbing and drainage services that support comfort with lower resource demand. The work was recognised as Project of the Year at the 2018 Master Plumbers Awards.

Complex building services made calm, controlled and coherent.

Hidden Island is a 500m²-plus architectural home at the foot of the Remarkables, with comfort and energy systems designed for efficiency at scale.

A 30kW ground-source heat pump, zoned underfloor heating, thermal storage, 5kW solar PV and on-site wastewater treatment were coordinated as one complete system.

Locally owned, and quietly obsessed with getting it right.

Since 1996, Optum has grown from one Wānaka plumber into two local teams serving Wānaka and Queenstown—installing the town's first solar hot-water system along the way.

Our plumbers, gasfitters and heating specialists work together across the whole home. The same familiar people return year after year.
