High-performance new build · Wānaka
A home where heating, cooling, hot water and fresh air work as one quiet, efficient system.
The brief
After years of cold, draughty homes and rising power bills, the owners wanted a home that felt consistently healthy and comfortable without demanding excessive energy.
The answer began with the building itself: high insulation levels, an airtight wrap and triple glazing reduce the load before any heating is switched on. Optum then sized one integrated system around the way the home would actually perform.
Every component was selected to do its job quietly while supporting the performance of the whole home.

Underfloor loops warm the concrete and tiled zones, while active ceiling panels give bedrooms a faster response.
The heat pump reverses for summer cooling, supported by balanced heat-recovery ventilation delivering filtered, dry air.
Concealed residential fire sprinklers and whole-home UV filtration add protection without compromising the architecture.

The outcome
“Once you have lived in a home like this, it would be a struggle to go back to living in a standard NZ home.”
Twelve months after completion, the home had exceeded the owners' expectations for comfort and health. The system responds to outside conditions, supplying only the energy needed to maintain an even indoor temperature.
